This will be a short diary and may end up a post on the BAG as well as here.
BUT, WTF is up with the GOP attack ad on Obama?
Number One: You like Rahm so much? Get a room. He's in no less than six consecutive shots of this video.
For those of you too weary to count them, here they are:
I call this "Ring around the Rahm" and "Rahm Devil on My Shoulder."
These two are "Now you've pissed off Rahm" and "Rahm, Tell Me What to Do!"
These are "I love me some Rahm" and "Rahm, I promise, I'll listen this time."
I mean, what the hell? I thought Americans loved tough talkers. And he's connected to a popular former president, right? It couldn't be they're inferring there are Jewish people running the show, could it?
Number Two: Cover him Black.
The next weird thing in the ad occurs at the 52 second mark. There you’ll find a shot of Obama speaking at a rally. A black supporter in front of the camera holds up some sort of black scarf, perhaps a cloth sign but it's not discernible from the camera angle. The black scarf blocks the view of Obama for a full three seconds, all the way through the 55 second mark, an eternity in political advertisement. What’s the message there? Of all the photographs of Obama at rallies, why was one where his face was surrounded by black faces and blocked by a black scarf used? Because you know there's no footage of Obama speaking at rallies where his face ISN'T blocked by a large black scarf.
Here's the scarf sequence:
Now, I'm not saying the ad is ineffective. Maybe it will play well. If I were the GOP, I figure I'd attack him on jobs. Especially when the perception is that Wall Street got gobs of cash and all we got was a jobless recovery. It may not be fair, but he's vulnerable there.
But effectiveness aside, I'm sure there's other sneaky shiz in the video. Have at it.
Oh, and, check out BAGnewsNotes, we've been busy lately.
UPDATE: a friend reminds me that a black veil is a prominent Muslim symbol.
